The long-awaited sequel from Neil Conti to his legendary 'Funky drums from Hell'. Brian Eno contributes special mixes to ensure you won't be disappointed!
Great drumming, edgy production and an obsessive pursuit of the ultimate groove ensure this is another classic, truly a work of art.
Neil Conti is one of the UK's leading drummers and, as well as being an integral member of Prefab Sprout over the years, has also worked with David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Annie Lennox, Deep Forest, Youssou N'Dour, Thomas Dolby, Primal Scream, Level 42, Cher, Steve Winwood and many more. Brian Eno is widely acknowledged as one of the finest producers alive today.
Long live mixes and jams (with key loops sliced out in appropriate formats) as well as shorter loops categorized as Extreme, Resonant and Dry. Hundreds of loops in total. Stylistically very human, creative and warm. This collection was recorded over many years and carefully processed through the finest available analogue processing by Brian Eno and Daniel Lazerus - as you would expect you can almost hear these drums sing!
REVIEW HIGHLIGHTS
"Man this sounds fat! Noise free, but warm and fat...Brilliant recorded stuff period!...the sound quality is 100% fat! It's mixed so nicely and it really grooves...very hip sounding...I find these loops very, very useful... it's definitely an 'alone on a island' pick!" - Raapie.nl
"This collection of samples from the ex-Prefab Sprout sticks man is the most expensive of those on test here, but it's not difficult to see why. Conti's previous sample CDs have been largely down-tempo affairs, but on Dark Side he ups the pace and aggression somewhat to produce a drum loop collection of great originality and depth.
Beats vary from hip-hop grooves to drum and bass workouts via several industrial excursions. Conti has also thrown in several longer jams that organically build and change over several bars. On top of this, Brian Eno has lent a hand by bastardising several of the loops in his own personal style.
This sample library is limited purely to drum loops, so it's not one for those who are after a construction kit-type CD, but it's an excellent choice for musicians looking for some fresh and original drumbeats to lift their compositions. 4 Mice." - MacUser
